Church History

As a child, Bishop Kengga (formerly Derensbourg) attended 109th Street Elementary school in Southeast Los Angeles and Gompers Junior High school. At age 15, he paid his first of many visits to juvenile hall. From 1978 to 1979 his life was about as low as it could get. Attempts were made on his life on several occasions through stabbing, point blank range shooting and a drug overdose after which he was pulled out of a swimming pool after 15 minutes according to witnesses. The person seen pulling him out of the pool was never seen entering or leaving the incident. Bishop Derensbourg believes his life was spared by divine intervention from the hand of death.

In 1980, shortly after the pool incident, the Lord said to him that he would never have anything or be anything without HIM. His cousin and her husband
invited him to see a play “The Great White Throne Judgment.” That same weekend, he gave his life back to God. In 1983, he received a call to preach, and hit the streets and never looked back.

In 1986 Bishop Kengga received confirmation of the call to pastor and was sent out by his pastor, Bishop Wayne Davis. His ministry in the Palmdale area started as a weekly Bible Study on Saturday July 1, 1986. On Sunday, October 5, 1986, the ministry of Abundant Life Deliverance Ministry was born. As God developed this ministry over the next 12 years on the backside of the desert, in1997 the Spirit of the Lord planted the ministry within the heart of the City of Palmdale. In March 2000, after successfully settling in Palmdale the name of ministry was changed to United Christian Fellowship of the Antelope Valley to accommodate the expanding vision revealed by God. He has acquired 10 acres of land to build a facility to more greatly minister to the community. He is truly humbled by the hand of God on his life, because he remembers where he came from and thanks God for sparing him and using him for His Glory.

Bishop Kengga is married to Pastor Kenitra (formerly Venita) who was ordained as co-pastor in 1992. Their lives are blessed with four children in the home, two adult children, one son-in-law and two grandchildren.
